The plan was to be at GIngerman on Friday morning to run S2000 challenge. Well, like always things never work as planned. I ended up running through the night/morning on my buddies LS powered 350Z. My car was done in an hour. I was told that it was going to involve a couple Hours on the Z, boy were we wrong! Mounting the power steering cooler seemed to be more of a custom affair rather than a bolt on one.
As I was falling asleep with the sun coming up on Friday morning I realized that it would not be smart to drive with zero sleep in a car that has the worse drone in the city. Oh, did I mention that Gingerman still is an hour and a half away with it Indiana terrible construction traffic. By the way they have been fixing 80 since I've been alive can you please just stop Indiana please!
I woke up around 3am (yeah, I went into hibernation) and headed out to Gingerman. The calm roads that early in the morning made everything seem smooth it was almost like most of the trip wasn't in Indiana. So fast forward a bit to arriving in pitch black track after taking a detour where I believed I was going to either die or get raped. I found a random spot and guess what, I had to sleep in my car since I was 3 hours early before the drivers meeting.
The day had begun and tracking was going well on the new repaved Gingerman. WMHM was a for sure experience you have to try if you like grassroots down to earth events. Everyone was super friendly and chill, not to mention we all were learning from each other and having some Battles here and there. Saturday there were random intense storms, coming in on what seemed like minutes. This surprisingly didn't bring down any spirits and the track dried right back up in under an hour.
As the day winded down the festivities commenced, all my friends having a good time. Chop top (a crx with the roof and windshield cut off) riding around with 30 dudes on it is handing out beer, a massive quantity of pork being served to the drivers, and everyone sharing their store thus far in the weekend. Truly a neat way to spend the evening with your track homes. Unfortunately, I was still exhausted and hung out for a while until I made a great bed out of my race tech rt1000 inside my car. Yeah, it was a shitty situation, only I fell fast asleep.
I woke up sometime at five am to look outside and see more rain and everyone bundled up in their tent, I believed for sure I should go home but me and Gingerman had unfinished business. Saturday I was running high 44s and my goal number was to hit the 43s so I couldn't run home until I had at least one session trying to do so
I ended up running into a little traffic the lap before this one, but the predicted lap said 43.8 so I know I can do it. Doesn't matter though, because WMHM isn't really about moving fast and pushing against the clock for me, it's about having a great time with all my track homies. That my friend is priceless!
